Obedience Training
Does my dog need training? Yes, and so do you! Whether you are intentionally
teaching him or not, your dog always learning. This is true for puppies and
for older, adult dogs. If you do not teach your pet your rules, he will
invent his own. Training allows you to safely and humanely control your
dog's behavior. Positive training enhances the bond between dog and owner,
and helps ensure that your dog will respond happily to your instructions.
ACA Inc. offers high quality owner/K-9 specific customized "one-on-one"
training programs along with group classes in: Basic Obedience,
Advanced Obedience, Puppy Training, Behavior Analysis and AKC Canine Good
Citizen test preparation.
Obedience "one-on-one" classes are of 45 minutes to one hour duration and
tailored to meet the needs of the Dog and Owner scheduled to fit the busy
pet owner. The cost for these classes is $45.00 each lesson. These classes
are conducted by our Head Trainer and your dog receives their undivided
attention. This allows you and your dogs training to progress at the most
optimum rate. Weekly classes are usually the most successful. Homework may
be required. There is no pre-payment or contract required. The pet owner
only takes the number of lessons they need to meet their goals. Classes may
be held at our facility and at area parks so that your Dog is trained in
various environments.
Special "Behavior Modification" Training. This requires your dog to utilize
our "board & train" program. This program is tailored to the dog that has
"some behavior" issues and problems. This program usually requires between 4
to 6 weeks. For more severe aggression our
"Total Canine Transformation"TM Program is required.

Many dog owners choose Canine Good Citizen training as the first step in
training their dogs. The Canine Good Citizen Program is an American Kennel
Club Program. The CGC lays the foundation for many activities such as
obedience, agility, tracking, and performance events. As you work with your
dog to teach the CGC skills, you’ll discover the many benefits and joys of
training your dog. Training will enhance the bond between you and your dog.
Dogs who have a solid obedience education are a joy to live with—they
respond well to household routines, have good manners in the presence of
people and other dogs, and they fully enjoy the company of the owner who
took the time to provide training, intellectual stimulation, and a high
quality life.
We have AKC approved CGC Evaluators on our
staff. To be a AKC Canine Good Citizen your dog must pass an approved
AKC/CGC test administered by an approved CGC Evaluator.
